About Sandy MacGregor
Sandy MacGregor had a choice when his three teenage daughters were murdered by a crazed gunman in 1987 – overcome his anger or allow it to overcome him.
“If you persevere with hatred, anger and vengeance you end up like that, being another victim” he said. “That was not for me. I’ve got responsibilities; my children, my wife and me.”
Sandy is now a best-selling author and trainer, has 6 books and 20 meditation CDs.
Since 1989 he has taught relaxation, guided imagery and easy-to-use mind techniques which he says can overcome any crisis. “you can relax within 30 secs”
A decorated Vietnam Veteran and a professional civil engineer, Sandy admits the career was an unusual turn for an ‘analytical left-brained sceptic’.
“We talk to ourselves 50,000 times a day,” he said. “If you talk to yourself negatively you end up negative. Fortunately the reverse is also true – and that’s proven science!”
Sandy first learned the mind techniques from his son, who used them to overcome asthma attacks and to save his leg from amputation.
He then proved the mind techniques to himself by losing 22 kgs and reducing his blood pressure. He relied on that strength of mind several years later when his three daughters were gunned down in their home by an intruder.
Sandy said it was those coping skills which allowed him to overcome that tragedy and the fluctuating emotions when he met his daughters’ killer 14 years later. His story has been seen on Channel 9s “60 Minutes” and the ABC TV’s “Australian Story” and heard with Allan Jones Radio. For more on Sandy Click Here
