What is Meditation?
Technically, meditation is when one is deliberately in a deeply relaxed mind state - the Theta brainwave state. The Theta state is a deeply relaxed state of awareness (similar to the dream state but with conscious control). This state allows you to achieve many things while in an enhanced state of relaxation, achieved by using guided imagery, and a number of other techniques. No special meditation supplies are needed and there is no need for uncomfortable or complicated body postures.
There are four different brainwave states:
- The Beta state is the one we predominantly live in; it is our everyday consciousness in which we are capable of thinking of several different things simultaneously. Beta states often result in taking on stress.
- The Alpha state is the relaxed focused state; we think of only one thing at a time in this state. We release stress in this state.
- The Theta state is the meditative state in which you retain
an extreme acuity of your mind while losing focus on your
body. This state is where you achieve the greatest benefit
from the effects of meditation in general.
- The Delta state is the deep, dreamless sleep where the mind produces no thoughts at all. You must first go through the Alpha state, then the Theta (as the dream state) to reach Delta.
Beginners often ask, "What is meditation? " Accepting "What
is meditation? " is probably less important than the how to
of meditation. Creative Accelerated Learning Methods (CALM)
offered by CALM Meditations provide all the meditation supplies
you need in the form of instructional books, tapes, CDs and
DVDs.
Sandy MacGregor proved 'what is meditation' to himself commencing
in 1981. He is a Civil Engineer, a retired Army Colonel and
was awarded bravery medals in Vietnam's Cu Chi Tunnels where
he commanded the Original Tunnel Rats. He learnt to meditate
from his son who had already used it to help his asthma and
to save his own leg from amputation. Sandy applied it to weight
release - 49 pounds (22 kgms) and to controlling blood pressure.
He even found inner strength after the tragic murder of his
three daughters using these same techniques. He then founded
Creative Accelerated Learning Methods (CALM) which utilizes
the most advanced, scientific and up-to-date techniques available.
While most schools of meditation follow the traditions of
Eastern practices - that rely on emptying the mind through the
use of vigorous, often complex exercises - CALM
Meditation utilizes Active Meditation techniques that work
with the mind's innate ability to visualize and perceive with
the senses. CALM Meditation supplies include easy-to-follow
books, CDs, DVDs and direct downloads to your computer.
Regarding my psoriasis, I developed this on the soles of my feet a few years ago. To cut a long story short, I used many different creams which were not successful. I bought your CD Healing yourself Sandy and listened to it every day for six weeks and I also started using a special cream. I can happily say that by the end of that year and up to now it has 99% cleared up.
I wondered whether this might have been coincidental, however I was talking to a friend who also had the same problem. I was thrilled to say to her that my skin has cleared up, although she unfortunately still has it. Next time I see her I will suggest she also uses the CD. I also stopped using chemicals in the shower and use only organic and natural products on skin and hair. I am now using other CDs of Sandy's to put to the test. I will keep you posted on the result. Thank you Sandy for all you have to share, I hope that others will have success just as I have.

I have been on anti-depressants for about 3 years. Before I attended the CHI course I was taking 150 mg a day. This was halved to 75mg in January, the Doctor then reduced this to 37.5mg a day and finally to nil 6 weeks ago. This is all thanks to the calmness I have been able to achieve through the use of the PP.
